NEWS Cable and Wireless has won a £6.8m contract with UK transportation group Go-Ahead.
C&W will provide a new IP network for more than 300 sites across the UK that will replace three separate frame relay networks currently in use.
Go-Ahead expects 35 per cent cost savings from increased efficiencies offered by the integrated network and hopes the new network will improve customer service by allowing for easy application installation and by providing more information to customers about their travel plans.
New applications to be installed include a payroll program and Oracle financial and purchasing systems.
Go-Ahead provides public transport services for buses, commuter trains and airline baggage operations.
Separately, C&W has announced it will sell its Japanese operation IDC to Softbank and refocus on its UK business.
