NEWS MSN Hotmail is creating millions of new email addresses for UK users with the launch of Hotmail.co.uk.
Until now UK users and those around the world have vied for the ever-diminishing number of addresses @hotmail.com - with the most popular combinations of names being taken long, long, ago and many people having to suffix their names with lengthy numbers and underscores in order to find an address which has not yet been taken.
However, the most popular first names @hotmail.co.uk will be auctioned off to raise money for the NSPCC. So if you want to snap up the most popular boys' or girls' names - currently Jack and Chloe - you'll have to get bidding. MSN is running the auctions in association with eBay.
The accounts will all be starting off with 250MB of space in line with the recent upgrade to Hotmail.com accounts.

Nice journalism. No mention of how useless and pollution-ridden hotmail accounts are. Why not just print their press release? Why not have some kind of party to celebrate the great dawn of a new era and invite Bill himself to eat ferrero rocher and laugh hysterically while sitting on a big pile of money?

Blimey - someone has a grudge with Hotmail don't they. I quite like the service and see relatively few spam e-mails since recent improvements in their spam filtering.
It's a free service - quit whining.

hey mark! if there is a party you happen to be on the guest list i sugest you don't go......your a party pooper. get a life for gods sake and have a sense of humour. i give you credit for one thing though....you actualy use your name and dont use "anonymos" like the rest of the cowards. excuse the spelling i dont speak your language, i like laughing at silicons reporting it breaks the ice if nothing else. though i do admit they have a LOT of room for improvements. not exactly news at ten as they say here in uk,(though its on at 11). more laughs please Will!!

Mark S,
You really are a very bitter man aren't you? How about the mention of the names being sold for charity, doesn't that warm your heart just a little?
BTW what is an "ARTIST!"? Is it like an artist but with the volume turned up?.... ;o)

One thing Hotmail DID NOT advertise though was that, when upping the space to 250mb, they, in turn took away the facility to use it in Outlook Express.
This proved to be a bit of a pain for me, because I liked using it in Outlook express and would sooner go back to the 2mb limit and have OE back.
