NEWS Nokia has continued to shuffle its pack of top executives, making two appointments effective 1 January.
Robert Ianucci, previously of Cosine Communications, Compaq and IBM, is moved up to senior VP and head of Nokia Research Center. He joined the company last summer but will now be based out of the vendor's Helsinki headquarters.
The move marks further internationalisation of the company, which has faced occasional criticism as it has grown for being run from the centre mainly by Finnish men.
Ianucci, an American, replaces Tero Ojanperä, who has become chief strategy officer.
Meanwhile Mika Vehviainen, a 14-year Nokia veteran, has moved to VP for systems technologies and strategy within the company's Networks division.
Top executives Matti Alahuhta and Sari Baldauf, formerly chief strategy officer and head of the Networks division, have left the company in recent months.
