NEWS Accenture has won a £306m business process outsourcing (BPO) deal to handle the HR administration services for BT.

The 10-year contract is an extension and expansion of the previous five-year deal between the two companies.

Accenture is currently responsible for HR services to BT's 87,000 employees and 180,000 pensioners in the UK. The new contract will see an additional 10,000 BT employees globally come under Accenture's remit.

The new BPO contract will start on 1 August 2005 and services that will be covered include call centres, recruitment, pension administration, payroll and benefits administration, performance management administration and health and safety.

Accenture will also be tasked with delivering some significant HR cost savings for BT.

Alex Wilson, BT Group human resource director, said in a statement: "This agreement will allow our staff to concentrate even more on the strategic role of HR management to our growing global business."
