NEWS United Business Media has recommitted to network services from AT&T, signing a $16.5m, three-year global contract with the telco.

UBM's divisions include CMP Publications, whose brands focus mainly on IT and healthcare, PR Newswire and NOP World - though last month a deal was struck for the sale of this research arm to Germany's GfK.

UBM global CIO Matthew Graham-Hyde said his company's business depends on a stable, reliable network, which AT&T can supply.

The media company will use AT&T BusinessDirect, a customer portal that allows real-time reports on network performance, to help eke out operational efficiencies.

UBM is now headed by David Levin, who recently took up the CEO position after several years at the helm of mobile operating system company Symbian.
