UK surfers love their fat pipes...

The take-up of broadband home internet connections is showing continued growth month-on-month as more users make the switch to ditch their dial-up.

The latest Office of National Statistics figures are for October and show that broadband penetration rose from 57.3 per cent of all connections in September to 58.9 per cent – a shift of more than 250,000 users, according to separate stats out yesterday from the DSL Forum.

The ONS figures reveal a 5.6 per cent year-on-year growth in total internet connections and a 60.1 per cent increase in broadband connections compared to October 2004.
