Dutch engineering company Royal Haskoning has signed a five-year, €2.9m contract for a global WAN with virtual networks company Vanco.
The first phase of the network will be rolled out in Europe - in Belgium, France and the UK - and later will be extended to Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Hendrik-Jan Smaal, IT director at Royal Haskoning, told silicon.com that with the new network staff from all regions "can access the same data and connect to each other". He added: "Four years ago we knew that this would be too expensive to do."
Founded in the Netherlands in 1881, the company has 3,200 employees around the world.
Last year British Airways signed a multi-million pound deal with Vanco to design, implement and manage a global VPN.
