Nuffield Hospitals has signed a £2m contract with Scalable Networks to provide a LAN infrastructure.
The network will support traditional voice and video over IP technologies, as well as NHS IT applications such as the Picture Archiving and Communications System.
The network will connect 40 sites and 10,000 wired users and devices, along with the deployment of 400 wireless access points for corporate and guest use.

The LAN will enable private healthcare company Nuffield Hospitals to provide real-time monitoring of patients across its 40 sites, allowing patient records to be automatically updated at the bedside and X-rays and scans to be stored electronically and viewed on screens.
Iain Roy, general manager of IT service management at Nuffield Hospitals, said there has already been a return on investment within the three completed pilot sites where the network has improved staff efficiency.
The LAN is estimated to have a seven-year lifespan and is due to be completed within two months.
