The tunnels were first built to house London residents sheltering from the Blitz.

Under London's streets, the tunnels worked as air raid shelters, with electricity and running water for their occupants. The Kingsway shelter was intended to provide a shelter for up to 8,000 people.

    Pool Tables!
    Those would appear by the size and shape , and the balls on the surface to be Snooker tables!
