Starbucks drinkers get an extra shot at wi-fi

Going venti with BT

NEWS

BT has teamed up with ubiquitous coffee chain Starbucks to provide wi-fi connectivity in all its cafes in the UK and Ireland.

The rollout, set to begin this week and be completed by the end of this year, will see the store operations systems in 650 coffee shops run over BT networks.

Also customers of BT Openzone and BT FON will be able to go online at the Starbucks outlets, as will iPhone users on O2 and customers of BT's roaming partners, such as iPass and Boingo.

Thanks to a roaming deal with US telco AT&T, Openzone users can also get online at Starbucks in the US.
