Open source API to aid cloud-hopping businesses

IBM and Microsoft get behind plan for versatile cloud apps

IBM and Microsoft have pledged support for the creation of an open source API that aims to simplify the process of switching cloud providers for organisations.

The Simple Cloud API project, courtesy of developer tools specialist Zend Technologies, launched on Tuesday. It will allow developers to makes apps in PHP, the common web-scripting language, in order that they can work with different clouds.
