Windows NT faces fresh security problems

NEWS Microsoft is working to fix a bug in Windows NT that gives users unrestricted access to corporate networks. The flaw, discovered by programmers in India, gives low-level users the same rights as a systems administrator. That allows them privileged access to passwords and confidential information. Karen Khanna, product manager for NT security, said the privilege elevation attack only works when trying to access the system internally. She claims it does not affect remote users. Microsoft said it hopes to post a fix by later today.
