Liar, liar - phone's on fire

NEWS Lying to suppliers or customers over the phone may not be an option now that lie detecting software has been developed. US company Seem Software has launched a product which it claims can tell from someone's voice whether they are telling the truth or lying. The company claims the software, called Truster, reaches accuracy levels of 85 per cent. It can be used over the phone but does not yet work for mobiles. The system measures microtremors in the voice and detects lies based on an algorithm developed by the Israeli military. The company believes it has potential in the human resources departments of large corporates, where it can be used to sniff out applicants who are economical with the truth on their CVs. Truster works on Windows 95 or NT but requires a soundcard, a microphone, and a phone.
