NEWS A development team at Sandia National Laboratories, has devised a mechanical lock that it claims is unbreakable and will effectively protect computer systems from hackers. The locking device is a tiny piece of hardware which automatically shuts down a client computer after only one failed attempt to log in to a network. Sandia claims that because all previous security devices are based on software, they can be manipulated. But because its system physically disables the computer, it is far more secure. Sandia hopes to have the product on the market within two years.
