NEWS Microsoft UK, working with Berkshire police and local Trading Standards Officers, seized counterfeit Office 97 CDs worth £20m over the Christmas holiday. The haul is part of the 100,000 CDs Microsoft estimated were being pushed onto the market before Christmas. The 55,000 CDs were found in two lock-up garages - one in Bracknell and one in the centre of Reading. Gregory said they found information in one of the buildings which led them to the other. Police arrested two men who have now been released on police bail. David Gregory, anti-piracy manager at Reading-based Microsoft UK, said: "This brings our total seizures since October to £70m. Most of this has been found in the south-east - in North London, Cambridge, the east coast and now right on our doorstep." Gregory added that the investigation was not over and he expected further developments soon. The remaining 44,000 pirate CDs are still unaccounted for.
