Clinton invests $1.46bn in cyber-security

NEWS Bill Clinton has revealed plans to expand US government spending by $1.46bn to safeguard against cyber-terrorism. The money will be spent bolstering security surrounding critical public infrastructure including power, telecommunications, banking and emergency services. The growing number of references to the Internet and cyber-society in political circles is indicative of a trend highlighted in a study promoted by Irish research consultancy, Nua, as reported by Silicon.com last week. The study predicts that the Internet will be increasingly influential across global political landscapes in the next few years.
