PKI could leave you out in the cold

NEWS Uncoordinated Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) applications used by corporations to secure Internet communications could hinder their security systems rather than support them, according to security vendor Entegrity Solutions. PKI applications - which include cryptography, digital certification processes and the systems that manage them - are at the centre of plans to prepare corporate security for the risks brought in by the Internet. Entegrity is warning that corporations are being too quick to set up PKI without considering how their system will interconnect with other businesses. The security company is advising companies to carefully select their technology and service providers - with an eye on future, global PKI possibilities.
