NEWS IBM has claimed all its PCs sold in Europe are virus-free, after admitting that some of its Aptiva computers shipped after being exposed to the CIH virus. Hannah Briden, IBM brand manager for Aptiva, confirmed that no European units will be affected by the virus, which broke out at one of its US plants. CIH is one of a handful of viruses circulating on the world's email systems. It is programmed to detonate on 26 April, and could wipe clean the hard drive of any machine it infects. Big Blue claimed only a small number of PCs were exposed. It said all of the serial numbers are known, and the resellers have been informed.
