US nuclear researchers switch off PCs

NEWS The US Energy Department has decided to suspend all computing research at its nuclear laboratories, fearing that the work could expose them to espionage. The systems in question contain some of the country's most sensitive secrets, according to the Unit. The scare was sparked by charges last week that China had accessed information from the labs - allegations which have been denied by Chinese authorities. Researchers and scientists have been forced to stop work and are now attending training sessions on computer security, according to Energy Department officials.
