Hackers target US government Web sites

NEWS Hackers attacked two US government Web sites on Monday in retaliation against an FBI investigation into their activities, according to US reports. The assault was a combined attempt by a number of different hacking organisations, which left simple notes on the sites threatening further attacks in a similar vein. A spokeswoman for the US government told reporters that the attack is a consequence of open government and a result of its attempt to make as much information about itself available as possible. The retaliation comes after the FBI raided four separate homes in Texas as part of ongoing investigations into different computer intrusion offences.
