By Joey Gardiner, 14 June 1999 18:26

NEWS Mail and messaging company, Pitney Bowes, has filed a lawsuit against E-Stamp for alleged infringement of its electronic postage patents. Pitney Bowes claims that the Palo Alto firm is using its technology and has backed out of licensing negotiations and while the company claims that it is continuing to seek common ground with E-Stamp, it is obliged to protect its investments in intellectual property. E-stamp is a leader in the field of buying postage on-line, and has gained approval from the US Postal Service for its service. In a written statement, E-Stamp claimed it had not infringed any patent and would contest the claim.
