Ontrack keeps lawyers e-briefed

NEWS Ontrack Data Recovery has launched a Web site designed to help legal professionals manage and protect electronic information for legal use. According to the company, the use of electronic data as evidence in legal cases means it is now essential to be able to find, recover and analyse information which is later admissible in court. Ben Allen, general manager of Ontrack Data Recovery Europe, said: "This is a growing area. Companies have huge amounts of sensitive information and don't realise they are putting themselves at risk." The site, http://www.ontrackevidence.com , outlines the basic process of data management and offers two evidence recovery services - the Litigation Management Programme for lawyers and the Corporate Data Management Scheme for corporate lawyers. According to Allen, the site will save time and money for both Ontrack and its customers. "We get an awful lot of enquiries for information and the Internet is a good medium for publishing it. It's quicker and easier for everyone," he said. The site covers aspects of electronic evidence including email, record management, forensic accounting and intellectual property. The computer evidence service deals with a variety of cases including commercial disputes, insurance fraud and employment litigation.
