White House to repeal encryption export ban

NEWS The White House is today expected to announce a radical reversal of its controversial encryption export ban. For years the US government has banned the export of strong encryption products because it claims it could threaten national security in the wrong hands. The policy has come in for strong criticism from business communities who say that encryption is essential to ensure security in online transactions, and from civil rights groups who claim the ban is an infringement of human rights.
