NEWS US software developer WinWhatWhere has responded to pressure over its controversial monitoring product by releasing a version which includes a notification banner, telling users when they're being monitored.
Investigator 2.5 can track user keystrokes and send information back to a systems administrator. But it ran into controversy last year after it was claimed the software infringed human rights by 'silently' tracking office staff without their prior consent.
Now users will see a message appear on their desktop when the program is installed, and are required to click on the icon before it will disappear.
