NAI boosts email virus protection

NEWS Network Associates (NAI) has unveiled the latest update to its Dr Solomon's anti-virus range. The upgrade is designed to increase protection against email viruses. The company claims its 'Active Virus Defence' provides an easy-to-manage multi-tier defence. According to Sal Viveros, anti-virus marketing director at NAI, companies lack the security skills necessary to protect themselves against the virus threat. "Protection at the desktop is no longer adequate," he said. "You need to be able to track the enterprise and find out what's going on." The improved package includes ePolicy Orchestrator, which allows the automatic update of virus software across 100,000 seats, and Outbreak Manager, which detects unusual behaviour within the enterprise, stops any potential outbreak and alerts the security manager to the problem. According to US research house, Computer Economics, viruses caused $12.2bn of damage to companies in 1999.
