Nato concentrates defences on email

NEWS Nato has bought its commercial email security software from UK-based software vendor NetTel. NetTel's MailGuard offers boundary protection for NATO's possible 'trust gap' between its intranet and the Internet. The software will protect the email of 1,300 users in three Nato headquarters and in two mobile units. The installed software will also inspect the content of all incoming emails for viruses. The announcement follows the emergence of severe security holes in Nato email, which allowed Serb intelligence agents access to high level data during the conflict in Kosovo.
