NEWS Authorities in the Philippines are expected to drop the case against the suspected 'Love Bug' virus writer because of lack of evidence, according to US newswires.
According to Reuters, the prosecutor had claimed the Philippines National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) failed to produce enough evidence against 28 year-old Reonel Ramones to proceed under the country's Access Device Act.
The act deals with illegal use of passwords for credit cards and bank accounts.
Aled Miles, UK MD of security firm Symantec, told silicon.com: "Governments need to work together in order to work out a global legislation for cybercriminals. Letting a suspected virus author who caused worldwide damage free because of lack of evidence is an international issue, not a local one."
