Guardian iT takes new approach to web downtime

By Joey Gardiner, 3 July 2000 14:45

NEWS Business continuity company Guardian iT is to launch a new web-hosting company called iXguardian Ltd (iXg). Guardian iT says the company will be dedicated to addressing the problem of website downtime, which can cost companies millions in lost revenues and damaged reputation. iXg will offer guaranteed continuous performance and resilience of hosted web sites and protection of client's data. It estimates the worldwide web hosting market will be worth a potential £19bn by 2003. Guardian iT, which had a turnover of more than £50m last year, would not comment on the size of the investment in iXg, saying only that it will be significant. Stephen Bean, group marketing director for Guardian iT, said: "In due course we think the vast majority of our customers will need these kind of services - and as they trust us already, we think they'll use us."
