Napster wins appeal

NEWS Music sharing site Napster won a reprieve late last Friday, just hours before it was due to be shut down in line with an injunction handed down earlier last week. An appeals judge in the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco decided that "substantial questions have been raised about the merits and form of the injunction". Further arguments will now be heard, starting on 18 August. Napster had argued the injunction would have forced the company to lay off its staff of around 40, and prevent a proper discussion of the issues raised by the case.
