RSA plays its smartcard

Security firm RSA Security today launched a smartcard system that will allow businesses to personalise their security requirements across multiple platforms.

NEWS The RSA SecurID Card Studio is a single smartcard that can manage network access and digital credentials after a single sign on. It works across multiple applications, such as system access, corporate IDs and building access. Dominic Storey, director of technology at RSA, said: "The card system works by deploying a single cryptographic smartcard for secure authentication across multiple applications." RSA also unveiled software designed to secure remote communications over the internet. Labelled RSA Keon VPN client, the firm aims for the product to help companies use public key infrastructure (PKI) software to authenticate digital certificates.
