Virus 'swings both ways' to hit Linux and Windows

The first virus to attack both Linux and Microsoft operating systems has reared its head.

NEWS The virus, called W32.Winux, has not yet been reported in the wild but has set an alarming precedent as many PC users install both Linux and Windows on their systems. Created by a Czech virus writer called Benny, W32.Winux is not expected to be particularly fast spreading or destructive. The virus has no mass-mailing payload and is released by double clicking on an infected program or email attachment. It then searches for Windows and Linux applications to infect.
