NEWS The security glitch makes the browser open specially coded attachments of its own accord. These might be viruses or executable files. Microsoft admitted that the flaw is a typical software error, contained in the browser's Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, or MIMEs. Microsoft has posted a patch for the problem on its website at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-020.asp
