Slow demand for PKI prompts interoperability review

The Public Key Infrastructure Forum announced an interoperability initiative today to combat slow take up of the encryption technology due to the disparity between current products in the market.

NEWS The framework sets out a common set of definitions, which can be used by PKI vendors to develop technologies which support a wider range of third party security products in the future. The component framework aims to increase interaction between systems which support direct public key infrastructure (PKI) applications on a number of levels. The application level covers support for multiple applications on the same system. Also addressed in the forum's white paper published today is domain level, which deals with the problems incurred by encrypted data sent between two remote enterprises.
