Industry underestimating DoS attack threat

Hack attacks could be worse than we thought...

NEWS The threat posed by denial of service (DoS) attacks could be far greater than previously feared, according to a study by University of California. The study found that an average of almost 5,000 DoS attacks are taking place each week, but warned the figure is probably even greater as most companies will conceal such an attack, not wanting outsiders to know they have been hit. In related news, the Computer Emergency Response Team coordination center at Carnegie Mellon University yesterday warned visitors to its website of potential delays due to an ongoing DoS attack.
