NEWS Code Red has become one of the most damaging phenomena to hit the internet, costing businesses around the world up to $2bn. According to Reuters, installing the patch needed to block the worm has set companies back $1.2bn, while lost business has added a further $700m to the bill. This impact is likely to continue, but the worm still has a long way to go before it achieves the damage of the super viruses which struck last year. The Love Bug is thought to have cost around $8.5bn overall. For related news, see
