The defence lawyer for Russian programmer Dmitri Sklyarov has said he asked for today's trial to be postponed because he believes the case could be dropped.
Attorney Joseph Burton said he is in talks with the prosecution counsel about dismissing the charges. He admitted that a plea bargain could not be ruled out, but said he was more interested in having the case thrown out.
A new court date has been set for 30 August.
Meanwhile Sklyarov supporters in the UK are to reform as the Campaign for Digital Rights to protest against the European Copyright Directive - a law similar to the DMCA in the US - which is currently going through the European Parliament.
