NEWS PKI is being used only by three per cent of FTSE500 companies, according to a research published by IT consultancy Detica. Companies are not deploying PKI because they are still waiting to see which type of security technology is worth investing in, according to the study. The company said the poor demand has caused companies such as Baltimore to perform poorly. The study said: "The FTSE companies are finding it hard to decide which technology is worth deploying until they can be sure that a product is worth the investment, they're simply not going to part with their money." But Tim Pickard, strategic marketing director of EMEA at RSA Security, doubted the study's accuracy and said that the market is only slowly becoming mature enough for practical deployment. "I would dispute that the number is as low as Detica claims, they might not be looking at the market as a whole. Timing is very key when you come to market, and like any technology, PKI has taken a while to roll out," he said.
PKI still fails to impress
Not even a flicker of enthusiasm from top companies...
