NEWS Finnish security firm F-Secure has unveiled file security applications for handheld devices. F-Secure's FileCrypto for Pocket PC Enterprise Edition is a file encryption application that protects against unwanted data snoopers for Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 devices. F-Secure has also signed a software licence and distribution agreement with Compaq to provide file encryption for its iPaq Pocket PC H3800 handheld PC. The agreement means F-Secure's new FileCrypto for Pocket PC Personal Edition will a part of the standard package on all Compaq iPaq Pocket PCs. The announcement comes at an opportune time, with Microsoft launching its Pocket PC OS on the same day. Both announcements highlight the trend for handset makers shifting their sight from the consumer to corporate markets.
