NEWS silicon.com's German sister site silicon.de found more than 30 per cent of its subscribers are unable to watch videos because of their company firewalls. In a survey exclusive to silicon.de, 850 subscribers were questioned about their access to videos on the site. Over 30 per cent said they were restricted by firewalls. Reasons for the firewalls varied, but the primary reason is for security. Hartmut Buck, from the Fraunhofer Institute for business economics and organisation, said: "Workers aren't wasting their time at work by watching videos on the net. This is ridiculous. Buck added that everyone has the right to keep up-to-date with the news, even during work hours and said: "Employees could waste their work time without surfing on the net." But Buck believes things are changing, unfortunately due to the 11 September attacks in the US. "At the time of the attack everyone felt it necessary to be kept updated on the situation."
