NEWS SirCam has topped the list as the world's most common virus in 2001 - beating off stiff competition from BadTrans, Code Red and Nimda.
Anti-virus vendors are already dubbing 2001 the year of the virus due to the sheer number of hugely damaging viruses released.
The top ten viruses of the year, as detected by McAfee, are as follows:
1. SirCam
2. BadTrans
3. Magistr (all variants)
4. Code Red
5. Nimda (all variants)
6. Funlove
7. Hybris (all variants)
8. Goner
9. Backdoor-Sub7
10. Haptime
