AOL stamps on students' hopes and dreams

Harvard acceptance emails burn up on spam filters...

NEWS Students who won a place at Harvard were left unsure of their futures as AOL mistook the email bearing the good news for spam and deleted it. Out of 6,000 successful applicants, 100 students didn't receive the acceptance email as it was mistaken for an unsolicited email by AOL's filters.. AOL's spam detection software then automatically blocked the sender's name, preventing any further attempts from the University to get in touch with its students. However, the problem was rectified as most of the students phoned the University to check the status of their application, according to the Boston Globe. AOL was unavailable for comment.
