Microsoft battles user negligence

'You've got the patch available - don't blame us when it all goes wrong'

NEWS Microsoft is urging users of its controversial single sign-on Passport application to patch their browsers to prevent potential security breaches. Last November, Microsoft fixed a hole in its Internet Explorer browser that exposed personal data, but is concerned users don't always keep up to date with patches. Microsoft hopes its campaign to get customers to apply fixes as and when they are released will prevent their 'negligence' spoiling their enjoyment of Passport or leading to further questions being raised about the security of the company's products.
