Microsoft sports another security hole

Redmond giant holier than the saints...

NEWS A huge security hole has been found in Microsoft's online developer store - an online resource for developers - according to reports on newsgroup SecurityFocus.com. It is possible the hole has jeopardised personal information of the site's users. Reports on the newsgroup claim the hole is a result of a failure of Microsoft to check what users input in text fields on the website. Microsoft was unable to confirm any of the reports, but the website in question has been taken down. Developerstore.com currently runs a banner saying "Microsoft Developer Store is temporarily unavailable... We apologize (sic) for not being available to serve your needs at this time." The person who discovered the hole, Argentinian Cesar Cerrudo, first alerted Microsoft to the problem last Wednesday, but resorted to going public when he received no response from the software giant.
