Cisco set to cash in on network attack fears

CERT says the threat is increasing, Cisco starts boxing up new products. A happy coincidence...

NEWS Networking giant Cisco is expected to launch a range of security products in the near future, amid growing concerns over the threats posed by hackers to routers. Last week web security monitoring service CERT warned of the increasing threat from hackers - adding to growth in the network security sector, which is already one of the strongest growing industries due to the rapid growth in network level attacks. Cisco has hinted it will be launching a gigabit speed intrusion detection system as well enhanced VPN products. The company already has the largest market share for network security devices, such as VPNs, firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Cisco has not released any further details on the devices, according to US newswires, but is expected to do so soon.
