NEWS Demand for biometric security devices has increased greatly since the events of 11 September, according to LG Electronics. LG is a leading developer of iris-scan security devices and claims it is in talks with three major international airports about deploying its technology, the FTreports. Heathrow airport recently announced it was planning to introduce iris recognition technology to speed up the check in of frequent flyers who have had their biometric details stored in a database. The technology is seen as one of the safest ways for airports and other organisations to combat the terrorist threat.
