NEWS Buggy software costs companies billions of pounds every year, according to a study. The US National Institute of Standards and Technology has discovered that badly written software costs $59.5bn (£39bn) every year globally. The total cost is shared between technology users and software makers, users incurring 64 per cent and vendors 36 per cent. The costs are incurred when software fails to perform adequately. More rigorous testing could reduce the figures, the study concluded.
