BSkyB staff get remote control in £1m VPN deal

Another contract win for Sirocom…

NEWS Several thousand employees of BSkyB are to start accessing corporate networks remotely from around the world through a managed service provided by Sirocom.

The virtual network operator has signed a five-year contract worth over £1m that allows secure remote access from over 17,000 global access points using the iPassConnect client. Connections can be made over dial-up analogue telephony networks, ISDN, broadband, Wi-Fi hotpots and different flavours of cellular technology.

BSkyB project manager Dean Martin said that using the client technology, as well as Sirocom’s FlexiVision suite of online administrative tools, the company’s around-the-world teams will be better able to cover news stories and sport.

The contract will extend to over a thousand broadband home workers in the “near future” and comes on the back of a major deal Sirocom struck with bank HSBC in November.
