NEWS Spanish football giants Real Madrid have taken extra measures to protect David Beckham and the rest of its all-star band of 'galacticos' by boosting the club's antivirus and anti-spam capability.

The club has installed Sybari's Antigen software to protect incoming and outgoing emails for its Lotus Domino environment as well as implementing a centralised anti-spam and content management policy for daily volumes of over one gigabyte.

The deal keeps Sybari in the football way by adding to similar deals with the FA, Chelsea, Roma and Southampton.

A Real Madrid spokesman said in a statement that the new software will improve filtering and virus detection without affecting the performance and speed of the server.

"With some 200 corporate email accounts, it was indispensable for us to rely on a solution that could guarantee an uninterrupted messaging system and to ensure bandwidth availability for our network," he said.
