NEWS April's virus chart is in and the result sees Netsky taking seven out of the month's top 10 places.
Last month's virus chart had a more even spread, with the 'honours' split between the verbose virus writers.
This month, however, according to antivirus company Sophos' chart of the most reported viruses, there's no competition for Netsky.
The ever-inventive Netsky writer clearly has no plans to hang up his malware writing hat yet and, with the latest virus variant, attempted to prove that he's not just a malware mischief maker he's a sensitive soul at heart. Netsky.Z includes a few lines of poetry for the lucky recipient.
This month's virus chart in full:
1. Netsky.P 23.19 per cent
2. Netsky.B 20.16 per cent
3. Netsky.D 16.76 per cent
4. Netsky.C 4.99 per cent
5. Netsky.Q 2.79 per cent
6. Sober.F 1.14 per cent
7. Netsky.J 0.78 per cent
8. Bagle.Zip 0.64 per cent
9. Gibe.F 0.22 per cent
10. Netsky.T 0.21 per cent

I don't think it's very clever to start publishing top 10 virus charts. like its top of the pops. are you trying to encourage this competition with league standings!

To be honest, a top ten virus list is not going to help anyone.
Other than encourage writers to better the number 1 stop.
This isn't top of the pops,
and IMHO Creating such a chart is asking for someone to try and beat that which the Number spot has attained.
A Virus is a Virus no more no less,
once on your PC/Network, dou you honesty think your going to happy that it was at least the number 1 virus?.....eh?
Only takes 1 virus with a delete payload and a new exploit of Windows 2000 and we will all sorry.
Think it won't every happen?....it's on it's way, once they figured out how to release it without being caught.
