NEWS

The adoption of wireless hotspots within the enterprise is growing fast, though there are concerns too little is being done to secure them.

Deployment of wireless networks is set to increase in 64 per cent of businesses over the next year, research from analyst Gartner suggests, as 44 per cent of respondents said mobility will improve productivity.

One-fifth (21 per cent) of respondents said the primary reason this will happen is to access places that are impossible to wire, while 13 per cent said it is cheaper than installing a fixed-line network.

Yet security was considered to be among the top five concerns among respondents. Sixty per cent of respondents believe they have inadequate security for their wireless environment.

Its true, wireless access points can offer a back door into an otherwise well protected network. I expect most good IT managers are on the case though.

I guess the other aspect that relates more to public hot spots is to educate users in the protection of their own laptops. As we all know when you join a public wireless network anything on your machine that is shared becomes accessible to anyone that wants it.

Spread sheets, letters, accounts and so on all available for the entire world to see. As wireless hotspots become more common I suppose some user education is in order.

Yes, security is the big issue for wireless network. But accroding to fixibility of use and mobility and low cost, we have to consider this big issue.

Now a days a lot of reasercher making important sugession for security of wireless communication. We can hope that it will be solved or totaly removed within very short duration.
